Last night I ran a few errands before meeting family and friends for dinner. One of those was to go to Dress Barn. I usually find pretty good clothes there and I'd perused their website to know what I wanted to look at. But when I arrive, I was told the sweaters were buy one get one half off. So I picked out four sweaters I was interested in. One was a very light laceweight cardigan. When I got to the register they informed me it was knit wear not a sweater....ummmm....okay. I don't need it or the black sweater since I don't get the discount. I'll just take these two. I got half way home and realize, that price didn't seem right... I looked at my receipt and they'd charged me for the laceweight sweater but hadn't given it to me. So I called, and, fortunately, they remembered. I'll have to go back on Monday night to get a refund but what a pain!
I did have a nice dinner with my mom and dad, my cousin and a friend. We ate at the new Mexican restaurant in Junction City, which was just hopping! Dad knew one of the owners and Deedra knew both of them so we got the family treatment. Nice guys. Since my cousin hadn't seen my house, we came back to the house for a while. Unfortunately, while moving things around in the car, my vase that I'd taken with Dahlias to work, fell out on the cement and broke. I was very sad. It's the one the Robert gave to me and I loved the vase! I'll have to see if I can get the potter to make me a new one.

This morning, at 7:15 there was a heavy thudding boom, then voices in a loud speaker. I was suspicious so I went outside, staying on my property to be sure I was out of the way. Sure enough, there was an apparent police stand off on my old block. One car was blocking the road on this side; more were elsewhere, I'm sure, since someone had to be on a loud speaker, but I didn't go look. The officer was standing behind his car with his hand on his gun but not drawn. I haven't heard anything for a while and the car is gone. The neighbors are all standing around, though so I'm sure something is still happening. I wish I could say it was the first time, but it's not. At least this time I'm a block away. I don't have a police officer barricading my door to keep me safe. That's what happened last time.
Since I'm wide awake, I tended to my garden. Usually, I'd leave the root vegetables in the ground until after the first frost but I think they are big enough!

Sorry for the blurry picture but you get the size idea.

The carrot in my hand is the second carrot from the left of the four on the right. They are all rather large!
Unfortunately, I've totally lost my momentum and would like to just sit and knit for the rest of the day. However, I have a long list of things to do:

Unfortunately, I've totally lost my momentum and would like to just sit and knit for the rest of the day. However, I have a long list of things to do:
- Mow lawn
- Unload soil from trailer
- Do SOMETHING with the above produce (anyone have ideas for carrots that don't involve pickling?)
- Pick green beans
- Plant spring bulbs
- Clean house
- Go to Sears to pay bill (must find the Sears card first)
- Go to Rainbow optics to get the new lenses for my glasses
- Clean house so we have room to do beets on Tuesday.
- Do laundry
- Grocery shopping
