Another busy day...
Nov. 9th, 2012 10:48 pmMore progress today.
I started the day by putting another coat of paint on the ceiling in the bathroom. It still looked Sistine chapel-ish but I figured that after three coats we weren't going to do any better. Once the pink paint was put on the walls it really didn't look quite as blue any more. The pink is a little more pink than I'd hoped. I was looking for rose. I'm not sure I attained that but we'll have to see what it looks like when it's dry.
Chris got to flooring put in today and it looks great. It turns out I was 5 inches short on the last piece of flooring but Chris managed to manufacture a piece that would work out of the scraps. It's not ideal but better than having to buy an entire box of flooring for one small piece. It still looks fine. The $26 piece of molding they told me I had to have for the transition doesn't actually work because the pad under the carpet in my house is too thick. Of course we cut it before we figured it out. Bummer. We'll get something else that will work tomorrow though, I'm sure.
Since Chris was working in the back bedroom and we'd staged the pergo in the sapphire room, Mom and I started painting in the front bedroom. It's peach...really peach. Hopefully with furniture and curtains it will tone down a little bit. It's pretty, but wow. Melissa came by and helped for a good portion of the day so it is done, though, we'll just need to take the masking tape off when it's had a little longer to dry. It was really funny to be painting over the cream color and have it read as blue under the peach. Really odd.
So... my colors today were a little less than I'd hoped they'd be. Tomorrow I'll start painting the sapphire room...blue of course, what else would it be. However, with such a dark carpet it's a very lightly tinted blue. That leaves just the living room and hallway to do thereafter.
I'd really hoped to finish up the painting this weekend so I could take this week to pack. I'm nowhere near ready to move. I did take the jars out of my trunk and put them in the new pantry tonight. I got the shelving up today so it was ready to go. Unfortunately, since I'm on my own tomorrow painting may not get finished. Dad's coming out but he's got other projects to finish up yet.
The back porch roof is done too although when it rained we discovered a couple of screws that need a tighter seal. My contractor will be back out to do that next week. He also decided that we needed a piece of flashing at the transition to keep the water from getting between the two sets of boards. He'll fix that at the same time. I've paid him now in full and the bank account is much skinnier.
Tomorrow, before I head over to the house, I need to run some errands. I need baseboards, a cat door, and I'm still looking for an inexpensive chair or two for the living room. I figure I'll check at Eugene Liquidators for the latter since I've looked everywhere else I could think of. I don't want to waste a lot of time though so I'll get going early in the morning.
With that in mind, it's time for a hot shower and some soap to wash off all this paint. Maybe I'll have pictures tomorrow. We took some today but Mom probably won't get them sent to me tonight.
