Well investiture was by turns amusing and boring. Any coronation court gets very boring after you have seen a few. The best part is the presentation of the Heirs in all their finery but then its all the same for way too long.

We had eight royals at investiture, Prince of Tir Riegh, The Crown Prince and Princess, the King, the Prince and Princess and obviously their heirs. It made for some interesting gift scrambling.

I spent a lot of time on retinue duties with the Baroness but I don't mind. I got to chat with her and F. a bit. F. was running around handling politics. She had an expression that crossed amused and harassed. I am curious about what all was happening but it's probably none of my concern. When I wasn't with the Baroness, F. or C, I went to a dieing workshop and picked up some really cool swatches of colors that are very easily attainable in period. Did you know, lime green, neon yellow, screaming fusha and burnt orange are all very easy to obtain? Don't let anyone tell you they aren't period colors. *laughing*

I did a little politicking myself. As a seneschal candidate, I had some people asking questions that would probably otherwise never have talked to me. The other candidate and I rode together to the event and we discussed the things we'd seen and heard. It was a bit amusing and a bit disconcerting. We seem to complement each other in this arena: where one is weak the other is strong and we seem to be on the same page. We've decided to downplay the partnership aspect a bit because of some interactions we've had with people who seemed to want to play one against the other. Our plans are the same; one will be seneschal and the other deputy but we are interested to see where the factions fall so we know what we are dealing with. Certainly we seem to appeal to different groups of people based on our connections. I expected that. I really don't care which one wins, I think either way the barony gets a good working team. The only reason I applied for the position was that it needed doing and I had the qualifications to do it. I only want what is best for the barony and either way I think the barony wins. We will find out on the 26th.

I had intended to work on my paper today but I'm not feeling very mental. My body hurts from the day spent outside and on uneven ground. Maybe I'll take a good soak and read a book, then assess how I feel. I'm intending to sew next weekend with F, one way or another. I doubt I'll have canvas before then though so maybe something in the costuming line. The first question is "what?" I'm thinking perhaps the Venetian will be a good summer dress but I also have other fabrics that aren't wool out of which I could make basic doublets and kirtles or skirts. Maybe I'll ask F what she thinks. I still need to adjust my corset a bit first.

Anyway, I hear a bubble bath calling my name. Maybe I'll write more later.
