My house is shiny clean (squeaky may be a bit of an exaggeration) I am ready to have company- I even found the guest room. A couple of trips to the store managed to get things organized. Yeay for under-bed organizers! All of those too small clothes are now tucked neatly away for the eventuality that I will lose weight again.

The biggest change is this: During the summer I purchased an over the door shoe rack of the shelf type variety, not the plastic/fabric ones. Big mistake. It doesn't stay together, it takes up a lot of room and the shoes don't stay aligned. It ended up looking really messy and blocking the door. So last night I grabbed an under-bed organizer and put all my "play" shoes in it- You know the kind, 4 inch heels, strappy, and totally impractical for everyday wear. I purchased one of the cloth and plastic over the door hangers, hung it on the closet door behind my door and put the everyday and practical shoes in it. The closet door doesn't get opened as often so it will put less wear on the bag. It doesn't impede the bedroom door more than an inch or two so it's all good. I also got a couple of photo boxes and put my summer shoes in them. Boots just don't fit anywhere so they'll get to sit out and be messy.

My poor kitties are awfully confused- I've blocked their hideaways. ;>p At least now I know if I need to find the shy ones, I only have one bed to look under. I spent an awful lot of time being angry at Sinatra last night as I was cleaning and trying to remove his insecurity markings. I do not understand this misbehavior.

There are some cleaning tasks I did not do, but overall, I think it looks pretty nice. Now if only I knew when to expect my guest and if I need to pick her up somewhere. I need to do grocery shopping which is better done while I'm still in Corvallis but puts me a long ways from home if she shows up sooner than I expect. I saw that Fearga mentioned dinner- so perhaps they will do that before she comes out to my place. I know I'm a little farther out than most.

At some point, I really, really need to get prepared for my Orals. I'm not making any progress and probably won't this weekend unless I have most of the day Sunday. YIKES! I'm getting rather nervous about this. (ok I am- no getting about it) There are only 12 days until D day. *gulp*

Ok breath....in....out...in....out...in.out.in.out.inoutinoutinout....gasp

Hi,

If it is me, then I won't be arriving too early. We are not leaving Seattle until 4 or 4:30, so the earliest we would be in your area is between 8 - 9.

So relaaaaxxxx! :-D

It IS you and I'm really looking forward to it. It is helpful to know an ETA. Thanks. I can do my grocery shopping so the fridge isn't totally empty. ;>) Travel safe.

Dames Karis and Fearga both have my contact number and directions to my house. I assume you are driving since you were packing your car last night.

I'll be excited to see you when you get here.

For what it's worth if your kitty is leaving "spots" behind, I found Vinegar water in a spray bottle works better than any fancy enzyme cleaner I've ever bought. This worked real good when Elphaba was peeing on my bed. I sprayed the whole thing down a few times, and today I cannot smell a thing. This may help if Sinatra is smelling residue from former spots. There is also a fancy kitty litter called "Cat Attract" which is apparently so appealing to cats they never want to go anywhere else.
Just some helpful advice from the peanut gallery, see ya tomorrow!

Thanks. Yes the vinegar is a very close acquaintance of mine. I spent quite a bit of time scrubbing the carpet last night with vinegar and a bit of water. I think I'll have to throw away the heated mattress pad though, since he got the contols. *grrrrr*
He never sprayed before I moved to this apartment and my last place had eaude de cat in a big way when we moved in. I don't understand. Several times he's backed up and sprayed my leg recently too so I think it's an attention mechanism. I am at my wits end. I don't want to lose him but this is driving me nuts.

I didn't know about the cat litter but with 5 cats I'm a bit reluctant to spend more than I am on cat litter....However, that's probably the next step.

I haven't had a male cat in over a decade, but you don't forget THAT smell! Hopefully you can figure out what triggers him before you have to make that kind of decision.

There is nothing worse than a spraying male cat.

And it can make your oh-so-lovable kitty.. into a small demon from hell, that you might willingly give away.

I think I'm going to have to try that vinegar thing.. Royal (aka, Bagheera) peed once on the couch recently.. I have NO clue why... and it was pee, not spray. Nice clean catbox.. and.. GRRR.

Knowing you, the answer would be yes.. but have you checked with the vet? maybe something medical??
