It was quiet
Jan. 3rd, 2007 12:16 pmIt was a quiet new year.
unna and I watched a movie, watched the ball drop, and sat in the hot tub.
I spent too much money shopping at Fashion Bug on New Year's eve. Still it was for stuff I needed so I'm not going to be overly concerned- hooray for FA. Shopko also got quite a bit of my money yesterday. I picked up some of the disney movies that I didn't have but only a couple. OK, yes, I splurged but I'm done now.
The university has this nifty holiday for classified staff. We can take any day before or after New Years Day and Christmas Day as an extra paid holiday. I took yesterday and used the day to clean house and do my shopping. The landlord came by and tried to fix my lock. Unfortunately, he didn't have all the tools he needed to do it so my deadbolt is sort of installed but on a different key from the door knob. He's going to come back on Saturday to finish. It means I have to be home but I think I can manage that.
unna came by last night after her advising appointment. She was so excited and I am excited for her to begin her classes. It's going to be quite a change for her but I think it's leading her to better things! Congrats, dear!
I'm having a bit of difficulty with my cell service. I am losing about 90% of my calls--The network beeps at me and drops the call. This from the network that says it has the "fewest dropped calls". Is anyone else having similar problems? I'd like to get a new phone, but if this is a wide spread problem, I should consider a different carrier rather than just a different phone. Since I only have the cell phone I need to have reliable service. Any one have an opinion? I am on this carrier because all of my friends and family are and it's free to talk to them- I'd want something comparable so my bill doesn't increase dramatically.
I have scolded my officers today because I've yet to receive an adequate and complete quarterly report. I asked for them by the 1st. Some have sent me "nothing to report" and I'm glad they've sent something but quarterly reports need to have some depth to them- after all they are supposed to be an overview of the entire quarter in our Barony for the principality and kingdom. Blah. Getting reports is always like pulling teeth.
I officially scheduled my Oral exam for 2:00 pm on Feb. 14. It kinda wigs me out that there is so much to do but the Valentine's day candy is already in the stores. Gahhhh!
Well this has been a rather random post- stream of consciousness I guess. I've got lots of work to do so I'd best get to it.

Date: 2007-01-03 09:13 pm (UTC)I think DV~ has something I created for him a few years ago.
You may already have a better system in play...but it is just a thought.
Moira - just trying to help make things easier. *grin*

Date: 2007-01-03 10:20 pm (UTC)"In a nutshell I need:
Names (modern and medieval) and contact information for all officers.
Account balance and if it is shrinking or growing.
Any problems that have occurred or challenges that we face.
The quarterly report is not the same as your monthly report. This
should be an overview of everything that has happened in the quarter
so that Kingdom knows what is happening in our Barony. Nothing to
report is not an appropriate quarterly report. If there is nothing
to report you need to explain why and what your expectations are for
the coming quarter. Always include your names and contact
information on your report. This report is then forwarded to your
principality superior and copied to the Seneschal, Baron and
Baroness. Technically, the report is supposed to be in hardcopy but
I don't mind receiving an email copy. You will need to check with
your superior about their preferences. Please use this reporting
process as a chance to express concern, excitement or expectations
related to your position to the Principality and Barony."

Date: 2007-01-03 10:55 pm (UTC)I know DV~ works very hard to keep everyone on the same page. Granted he has to ride heard a little harder on some that others.
Keep up the good work.

Date: 2007-01-03 10:50 pm (UTC)They are being doofus like.
If it makes you feel anybetter...DV~ has to babysit some of his local seneschals in order to get what he needs from them.

I DID want to talk to you about it this weekend, as I never had even THOSE rudiments given when I inquired of the last Seneschal, what my quarterly should hold..
I didn't want to do it at work, and having no internet at home.. really sucks.
Ah well.. they're all just excuses now. I'll see if I can write it tonight while I'm waiting for another meeting.
-me, the doofus.

Date: 2007-01-04 06:44 pm (UTC)As far as the phone goes you can pick up a "signal booster" for about $10 IIRC, and that should help a bit. We did that when our delivery driver's phone wouldn't pick up a signal in the warehouse. However now that we've moved to the new warehouse it's stopped working again. NAG!
