Update....

We have reached the end of week three of the term.  I am still feeling overburdened by the class but more in a normal "student who is working full time" way.  I've managed to get into a rhythm and I'm a bit ahead so I can enjoy the weekend.  However, our first mid-term exam is a week away and I'm very nervous about it.  There are a lot of equations to remember how and when they are used.  I need to make a crib sheet, which, in and of itself, is a little nerve wracking.  I just don't like unknown quantities....

Marian and I got together and cut out and partially assembled some tunics last Saturday. I haven't done anything more since.  I did get my fabric dyed.

This is the same blue I used for Johanna's dress but her fabric took the dye in a more royal fashion, even though, in theory, they have the same fiber content.  Mine isn't quite as dark as it looks in this photo- the green is toning it down a bit, I think.  I have linen in the yellow and blue for both a short and a long tunic.  The green one will be a short over tunic...if I ever get the sewing done.  Marian already has one of hers put together and embellished. The ones from this weekend are a robin's egg blue, another darker blue. and a brilliant fushia.  I can pretty much document each of these colors as available using natural, period dyes.  I'm really excited about that!  I thought the green was going to come out too emerald but it is perfect.

My yard is suffering from neglect:

The maple tree liberally seeded the neighborhood.  Almost every place in this picture where the light reflects is a little tree.  The flower beds are a mess too.  I've actually offered to pay someone to help me. I have someone interested; I just have to find a time for her to come over, which doesn't look like it will happen for a week and a half.  My dahlia tubers need to be planted soon.  Mom and dad delivered a load of soil to fill the dahlia bed.  It had settled over the last year and needed another cubic yard.  I need to put the sprinkler system back in. Then I can  sort  and plant last year's tubers as well as the new ones for this year.  I'd hoped to excavate another flower bed in the front but that hasn't happened yet.  I'll have to see how many tubers I have.

Jay, Candy and the boys are on their way down for a visit this weekend.  We'll celebrate PJ's birthday tomorrow and have a nice little visit.  I haven't seen the boys for over a year so I'm excited to see them (and they me, I think!).

I'm also working on a CAL for Frida's flowers
I finished my first three hexagons, but I have one more and 4 half's to do before the second pattern is released on Sunday.

Ultimately, it should look like this:

I think it's beautiful.
Now I have to run to class.
