Saying goodbye really sucks...
Sep. 25th, 2014 12:40 pmI had to say goodbye to this old man yesterday.

He was having serious health issues and you might be able to tell that he is very thin. At 15 years old, he was an old man and didn't want a whole lot of medical procedures to extend his life. While I was holding him, just before this picture, I discovered a tumor on his spine- a likely osteosarcoma. Our house call vet came to the house and we gave him a sedative and let him wander off to fall asleep on his own, since strangers stress him out. When she finally administered the drug, he went quietly but not quickly. There was nothing in his body for him to evacuate so he hasn't been eating, which I knew. I'm glad I got a few more cuddles out of him yesterday. I'm sure I made the right decision but it doesn't make it any easier. The hardest part was putting him in the ground and putting the dirt on top. The sound just broke my heart.
May you rest in peace, Puddin, and know your momma loves you enough to not let you suffer.
