Friday and Saturday was an all day move-a-thon. I had about six people helping at various times on Friday and three people on Saturday. The car hauler made moving the piano, the storage shed, and other large heavy items much nicer but the "SCA" trailer did a great job as well. Thanks to Durin and Kenny who brought them and helped. I had Durin's trailer 3/4 full with books, craft supplies, and fabric on Thursday night. That was about all the logical packing that occurred. Friday, others threw things in boxes, Saturday we all threw things in random boxes. Those will be the hardest boxes to unpack.

Last night, Mom and I got everything else out of the apartment except a box of spare computer parts that Robert was supposed to take (I think), the cleaning supplies and the door mats. I have this image of the Grinch who Stole Christmas snagging the doormat as he left in my head. So the doormats will be the last thing to go. I still have a few things on the back patio and plants that will need to be moved. This rain will make it loads of fun to dig up the roses and the other ground planted plant. On the other hand, the soil should be soft.

The new tenants are hounding me about getting out, which makes me want to dig in my heels. I've paid the rent through the end of the month and if I want to take that long I can. I understand that there are four of them and they are currently living in someone's garage but it's still my apartment until I turn in the keys.

At the house, the kitchen is set up and the pantry is nicely full with a little room to add. My bedroom is livable but not set up since the closet rod had the discourtesy to come crashing to the floor and brought pieces of the wall with it. Yes, I am a clothes horse, why do you ask? Dad is working on reinforcing it with 2 by 8 boards with holes drilled in them to hold the closet rod. Hopefully, that will be sufficient. I will need to sort my clothes and pull the summer stuff out and put it in one of the other closets so that I have one season (Oregon really only has two- cold and wet or sunny and dry) in the closet. It's not as big as the closet in the apartment so it can't hold it all anyway. I have assembled the second dresser and it has replaced several plastic drawer totes. Yeah for adult furniture! It also had to replace my bedside table, though and so I'm missing a few things that used to be handy. I'll figure it out once I can get the clothes in the closet and know what room I have. Currently, three of the totes are serving as stair steps up onto the bed for my geriatric cats.

We staged the books in the garage, mostly, and everything else in the spare room. I have a bit of a rabbit trail in there- boxes almost over head with just a little path to get from the door to the bed, where, incidentally, all of my hanging clothes are currently muddled together. The unpacking seems never ending! I want clear floors without rabbit trails!

Hopefully, I can get the computer off the kitchen table tonight and that will be one more step towards clearing things up and putting them away. The garage is full of Dad's tools and not very usable right now because of the piles of things everywhere. It does make putting anything away out there difficult. I guess, as a garage, it can have piles until I can get things put away inside.

Last night I was able to arrange the furniture in the living room. There are a few boxes in there but, finally, not enough to hinder furniture movement. I underestimated the depth of the piano so I had to move a chair to allow room for people to move through the hall. But hey, I have two comfortable chairs in addition to the loveseat!

Today, Comcast is going to come and see if they can make sense out of the blasted Coaxial configuration. The previous owner put in about two dozen jacks in the house and routed everything through the attic and an 8 way splitter (Bet I know how well that worked for internet). On top of that he converted to satellite and it's anyone's guess which is which. Currently, nothing seems to be live, although Comcast thinks it should be. I want my internet back! I really only need it in one place in the house since I have the wireless router for everything else. Comcast pulled a typical move- I called to get it reactivated and they opened the ticket to do so but then we couldn't find a live connection so they told me to call back when the modem had four solid lights. We never found a connection. So I called this morning to schedule a technician and they said, well you have an open ticket and I can't schedule anything until that is closed. I said, I can't get it closed because I can't schedule an appointment to get a live connection...she was very good though, she said she would work on it and call me back with an appointment time. And she did! She even got an appointment window for 2:00-4:00 today. Luckily, my parents are there working on the closet or that wouldn't have worked.

Next I have to tackle the snail mail issue. Apparently, my mailbox is no longer compliant with US mail regulations and it has to be moved to within 12 inches of the curb. I imagine that will be fun when it has to be anchored to the sidewalk somehow.

Oh, this post is running away with me and I could probably say a whole lot more. I'll post pictures soon instead.
