Progress for today...
Nov. 6th, 2012 10:18 pmToday Mom finished painting my bedroom. I need to get shelf brackets and then we'll put the shelf back up. Thursday I have to tear up the carpet and the tack strips so that the floor is ready for Chris to lay the Pergo. I offered to pay him but he prefers that I sew for him- I'm ok with that! He doesn't need the tunics until March so I'll have time to get my sewing room set up. He's hoping to work on the flooring on Friday and/or Saturday. Once that is done, I need to figure out the molding and rehang the closet rod and closet shelf and it will be done.
Trudi got primer put on the dark blue paint in what I'm referring to as the sapphire room- this will be my sewing/craft room. Fortunately, it's just the closet that still has that color (and the carpet but I have to keep that for now) but it took an entire gallon of primer to sort of cover it. This primer is really thick and it doesn't want to come off my skin tonight- yuck! there is still a wallpaper boarder that needs to come off the walls before it can be painted.
We also got the painting done in the front coat closet- it looks much better. It was creosote yellow. I think at some point there was a fire in the house because we are finding lots of blackened cobwebs and yellowed paint.
Mom finished the touch up and I painted the walls in the cabinetry in the kitchen. Now the only thing left to do in the kitchen is to put in the shelf liners and see if I can get the soap dispenser to work. There is also one face plate that still needs to be installed.
Dad has gotten most of the prep work done in the garage and now just needs to get a few supplies to board up the crawl space.
I still had some paint in my tin when we were cleaning up so I smeared what was left on one of the living room walls.
Today, it feels like we made some progress. The remaining list is still long but we are finishing a few things up.
The pantry still needs to have mollys installed so I can put the shelving back up. I have a cover for the external wiring which will need to be cut and installed and then the face plates need to be reinstalled and it will be done.
The bathroom, livingroom, hallway, craft/sewing, and guest room still need to be painted. We've discovered every time we start painting that there is a little extra in each room. Some have a ton of nail holes and/or nails and screws to remove. Some have outlet boxes that were cut wonky that need to be patched. So we never know how long each room is going to take. TOO long at this point.
I'm really worried about getting it all done but I guess we can only do what we can do.
