Amused....and an update...
Aug. 4th, 2011 09:20 pmWatching Miss Marple on Netflix is amusing. Too bad they only have episodes 1, 2, 4 and 9 for streaming.
Today was a long day because it was so quiet. Tomorrow will likely be more of the same. However, we will be going to the wavepool to play after work. It's a fun diversion and nice and cool after a hot day.
Saturday I will do laundry and some sewing, I hope. I have a skirt cut out and I would have cut out a dress but the cats have been sitting on the fabric and it's not as clean as I'd like. The skirt is a simple A-line so there are 6 pieces to sew together, a zipper to put in, a bias tape lining for the waist and hemming...doesn't sound like much but it always takes so much time.
I haven't figured out yet what pattern to use to make the dress. It will also be A-line with flutter sleeves I hope. I'm going to have to combine some patterns and enlarge them to get what I want. I'm thinking I will pattern off an existing jumper and then use a sleeve pattern from something else. I need to make some new undergarments for my skirts and dresses but JoAnne's in Corvallis didn't have any batiste. (It's a large store but it so many ways a lot less of a fabric store. Less than half of the store is devoted to fabric. I was rather disappointed in the selection. The store here in Eugene is far superior in that regard.)
I've looked at a number of patterns but the only dresses and skirts that look good on my generous frame are A-line dresses and straight or A-line skirts. It gets a bit monotonous and while the shapes are as flattering as I can find, I always manage to look rather frumpy. Of course, I can't expect to look like a young girl, I'm not. I'm sure the young girls who look so fresh and slim will one day have many of the same issues I do- I've just beat them to it by virtue of maturity.
Oh, good grief, there go the neighbors again. Pounding on doors and yelling. Yesterday I heard him call her a "punta" (whore). Not a very nice thing to say to your wife. I really want out of here (although the idea of packing up my stuff is terrifying)
My promotion has perhaps made it through affirmative action. I'm waiting for definitive results. Maybe by September 1 they'll have made it through the process. I'm just waiting.
Life goes on and I go with it.
