Day two of my six day work week
Apr. 18th, 2011 11:26 amI worked yesterday for 5 hours managing the technical aspects of our virtual accreditation visit.
That is to say, dealing with technical foo the whole way. We were set up to use AdobeConnect but the sound quality was too poor- even though we'd tested it twice before. Our tech wasn't available when he said he'd be so we finally had to give up on using any voice function with Adobe and established a conference call. This became rather complicated when we started exceeding the number allowed on the pod phone. I finally had to have the Cascades campus call one examiner and I called Cascades, and the two other examiners so we could get all four on one call. It worked but it was quite clunky. I don't want to think about the long-distance charges I incurred; fortunately I don't have to pay them. There was some general lag due to transposed and misspoken phone numbers but we arrived together finally.
Today as soon as I arrived, I arranged with Telecom for a 1-866 number for a conference call. We'll have that call open all day and people will log in and out as needed. That makes it much easier especially when we have to change rooms a couple of times. We had a little computer issue and another transposed number today as well.
Other than the technical foo and some general misunderstanding of concepts, the review is going well. I don't know if I'm working overtime tonight or not but I'll find out this afternoon, I'm sure.
Still, it's going to be along week.
