First appointment with the allergist....
Oct. 18th, 2010 12:14 pmI had my first appointment today and my skin tests. I'm on Zyrtec year round so I was incredibly surprised when I reacted to absolutely nothing on my skin test--108 items, no reaction except for the control. So now they are doing blood work to see if we missed something and to see if I have some form of Mastocytosis. The good news is that my lung function is really good, my blood pressure was down to 184/64 (note to self- make them use the big cuff), and I'm not allergic to my cats or my parent's dog. Bad news is, we still don't know why I'm having a histamine reaction every day.
Doctor has requested the following:
Labs for IgE and Tryptase levels
Take Zyrtec 2 times daily (Costco is the recommended source btw)
Switch to Zantac from Prilosec and take 2 times daily.
Switch to Dove soap
Moisturize entire body with Eucerin, Cetaphil, Vanicream, or Vaseline for 10 minutes every day.
Use ALL Free and Clear (I think the SA8 is actually better).
Do NOT use dryer sheets (Static here we come!)
Follow up apt. in 1 month.
Cost: $117 and change for no answers. *sigh*
