Marian and I scored at St. Vinnie's yesterday. Someone had gotten rid of a whole bunch of cones of wool yarn. We picked up ALL the colors that appealed or applied to baronial projects. I did a burn test when I got home and only two of the cones had some non-natural fibers mixed in (one was a nice blue that was labeled on the inside of the cone as 100% wool and the other a brilliant almost neon red which might be a cashmere nylon blend). Now I have to figure out how to store them without the moths devouring them. I have a cone of purple, two cones of cornflower blue, gray, black, white and I think I'm missing one.. maybe a beige? I also picked up three balls of a gray-blue wool that I want to try dyeing. Most of these are 2/18 or 2/20 so they are very fine and may need to be knitted with two strands held together. There was a cone of what appeared to be a linen blend but I wasn't up to working with that so it was left on the shelf. There were lots of other cones that we just couldn't tell what content they had so they were also left on the shelf. A cone of yellow wool was left behind as well since I can't wear yellow and don't know anyone I'd give knitting to that does.
We also made out like bandits in the the clothing dept. I picked up two denim jumpers; one may be a bit too tight, I'll have to see what I think after the pms weight and attitude go away. I also got a long jumper type dress, a long denim skirt, a red and gold skirt and a pair of Naturalizer sandals. None of the dresses are particularly flattering but they are nice summer working dresses- mostly loose and skimming rather than figure hugging.
Marian will have to tell you what all she got but I was satisfied that it was money well spent.
