How do they do it?
Nov. 18th, 2008 08:50 pmSo I went to the Madrona fiber arts winter retreat website. They have an amazing array of classes and teachers; I could joyfully stay busy all four days. But there is a catch Registration fees are as follows:
3 hr. classes: $80
6 hr. classes: $145
2 Day (12 hr.) classes: $280
Banquet: $45 (see Saturday's Schedule)
So if I wanted to go all four days it would be $560 plus the cost of driving to Tacoma($60), lodging at $132 a night($396), food($120), and the materials fees for each class (it's not included in the registration fees). We are talking about a minimum of $1136 before the course fees. Wow! I'm sure that it is an incredible event but who can afford it? Obviously a number of people because I understand that they fill up every year.
I'm sad that such an incredible event is so far out of my reach. I don't see ever being able to justify that amount of money for a weekend and a hobby.
