Oops, I hit my limit...

Apparently, after five years, I have hit my storage space limit on LiveJournal. 1 GB. To increase my space to 10GB I have to have a paid account $19.99 plus a storage fee of $24. I can't really afford that. So I've deleted all pictures prior to 2009, which really only takes me down a few MB. A temporary solution at best. I'm not sure what the permanent solution is.

Host the photos elsewhere, like on Picasa or Photobucket?

Yeah I think the only one LJ interfaces with is photobucket. I'll have to investigate.

If you host your photos on a separate site, you can insert photos using html. I do it with Picasa. :) Other people do it with Flickr. It all depends on your preference.
