(You aren't crazy, I'm doing some retroactive posting).

I read an article over the weekend about training your mind to be positive. It said that our self preservation instinct naturally causes us to be negative because we are looking for things that might be threats that need to be addressed for our safety. It suggested that we take time three times a day to notice positive things and to do that for 45 days. It's certainly worth a try. I know my natural inclination is to say "This is great BUT..." So as Tim Goss once told us about complements, all you can say is thank you. So I'll list just positive things with no modifiers.

Morning
Today is a beautiful day. I had a closet full of beautiful clothes to chose from this morning and they were clean and fresh. I even had some clothes that are spring fresh from drying on the clothes line. I got lots of kitty loves. I had a good breakfast and fresh fruit to pack for snacks. I get to look forward to going out for lunch today. My house is strong and nice and cool. It's in reasonable repair and I enjoy living in it. I had hot water and good cleansers for my shower today. My car started without issue and is very reliable. My dahlias are blooming and I can look forward to bouquets soon.

Noon
A meeting this morning has left me feeling anxious so it's time for positive thoughts.
It's still a lovely day and I work in a beautiful location. I have friends who listen to my concerns, even at work. I get to go home at the end of an eight hour shift and not think about work until I have to go back. I'm surrounded by people who care about and value me and work doesn't get to determine my worth. I have hobbies I love that provide me with satisfaction. I enjoy quiet and solitude and find living alone quite satisfying most of the time; so my circumstances match my personality fairly well. I have funds to indulge in my hobbies. There is an awesome Thai food restaurant close to work. I haven't yet found a better one and I get to indulge in it frequently.

Evening
Tonight's positives. The bank thinks I'm a good risk and loaned me money at a low interest rate to pay off a high interest rate credit card. It will mean lower payments and less time to pay! They loaned me enough to also redo the back porch and pay off a couple of other minor bills. They gave me twice what I asked for on the HELOC and I don't have to pay unless I use it so there is a safety net! Work is flexible enough that I was able to leave early to go sign paperwork. I take it for granted but had plenty of water to water my flower beds and an easy way to do it. I came home not feeling interested in doing the sewing I planned so I didn't. I didn't have to for any reason. I have a lovely comfortable bed in an air conditioned house and I can go to bed now.
