Something new....
Dec. 22nd, 2016 11:07 amSunday morning around 3 am I woke up for some reason but when I shut my eyes again it was like there were fireworks going off behind my lids. I was too tired to try to figure it out, so I went back to sleep. When I woke up at 7ish, it was still doing that but I figured I didn't need my eyes closed. I fumbled around the house like i usually do was I'm waking up and sat down to catch up on facebook, only, I couldn't read the phone. It was like something was in my way. So I concentrated on what I was seeing and discovered that there was a large C glittering in front of my left eye like a streamer made of holographic paper. It twisted, waivered, and sparkled but never changed shape. If I closed my left eye, I could still see it; it had just moved farther to the periphery of my vision on the left side- down and farther left. Knowing that there was a history of eye problems in my family, I opted to call the emergency ophthalmology number. By the time I had called and received a number for the on call doctor, it had stopped. I haven't seen it again but I figured I ought to follow up with the ophthalmologist.
I made an appointment for yesterday and it turns out, my eyes look perfectly healthy, if a bit allergic. I apparently had an ocular migraine. My eyes are not happy right now. They feel achy and full of pressure. I'd like nothing more than to go to sleep for a good long while (not that my brain will shut down and let me). I don't know if this is a backlash from the migraine or if I just haven't gotten enough sleep. Oh well....at least it's something new and different.
