Chaos....

I bit the bullet and got a home equity loan to redo the floors in the living room. That process was all sorts of messed up but it finally went through.   I went to home depot for the materials and install because they were the company that had the flooring to match my bedroom.  I had planned to have them move the furniture and pull up the carpeting but  there were several variables that made me decide to do otherwise. When they came to measure and produce the quote, I was told emphatically they would not move any of the large pieces of furniture.  So, they'd move two chairs, a rolling cart and a rolling foot locker?  What's the point, I can do that. It was also suggested that if I have a cat peeing, I might want to seal the subfloor before the new flooring was installed to prevent a reoccurance due to odor encouragements.  Paint has to have time to dry so I couldn't have the installers pull up the carpet- they wouldn't paint.  So after much frustration, I opted to do it all myself and just have them install the new laminate.  They called me to schedule on Friday and wanted to do the install yesterday....I couldn't be ready for that, so the install is next Monday.  So Saturday, I spent all day cleaning out closets, moving furniture, purging things, and tearing up carpeting and underlayment.  I wasn't feeling great and procrastinated a bit getting started but I did finally get to it.  This is what it looks like when I unload the three bookshelves in my living room (with kitty participation)

Then the UGH! work

The lamp became a casualty but I can get a new dish and bulb for it. The couch  just got scooted out of the way as I progressed.  The hutch takes at least 3 people to move so I cut out the carpetting around it until I have help to move it next weekend.  I still have to live in the house until next Monday so I didn't want a completely empty room or a completely unusable kitchen/dining room, which is where all the furniture is being stacked.  At this point, I was all done in and it was about 7:00.  But Mom and Dad came out at 7:51 to help me remove the tack strips and staples.  We finished about 10:00.

In the process, we found a piece of particle board where the fire place harth used to be which really is being held in place by duct tape.  And not very well at that- there is a hole all the way through to the crawl space. I'm going to have to ask my uncle how to fix that and if he can fix it when he's in town on Thursday.  It goes under the wall and I just really have no idea what the fix should be but it doesn't seem particularly safe the way it is.  There were a couple of stains and a couple of places  under the window where there has been water damage in the past.  There is also a little unevenness in a few places that may require work.  Mostly, though, it was in surprisingly good shape and wasn't even too disgusting.

I was hurting pretty badly at that point in the day so I sat in the hot tub for a bit.  My ribs hurt which seemed strange until I went to lay down and realized that my gallbladder was throwing a temper tantrum that kept me in agony for about a half an hour.  It was blessedly short but I was starting to wonder if I was going to have to go to the hospital for this one.

Sunday was all about rest, fortunately.  I picked up the odor and stain covering paint on my way home but I haven't quite figured out when I'm going to get that done and how I'm going to keep the cats out of it.

A visit to the chiropracter was necessary today.  My right leg was 1/2 an inch shorter than the left and the headache I had yesterday reiterated that my neck was out.  I am still sore but hopefully in the right alignment.
