I decided that my peach stores would not last through another year so I went hunting for more. Hentze's had one box, a box of seconds, and some small containers. The full box cost $28 and she charged me $5 for the seconds and $5 for the rest. It made a lot of canned peaches for a pretty great price.
I had one jar break and three that didn't seal. I see a crisp in my future.

I also picked up 10 lbs of cucumbers to try out the lacto fermentation style of making pickles.

I didn't want to use all of them in an experiment so I made sweet pickles with six pounds.

I also had six pounds of tomatoes out of my garden to deal with so I made tomato paste out of them. Six pounds of tomatoes made nine half pints; it's precious stuff. Unfortunately, I lost one of those in the canner.

My glass top range has difficulty keeping the canner going and doing anything else so I used the summer kitchen to run the canner.

It worked really well but I fought the bees all day and felt like I had to wipe everything down before going in for the night to prevent unwanted visitors. The canner is still hot so I left it on the range. Hopefully it will be ok.
I blanched the weekly pound of green beans and put them in the freezer before I started anything else.
However, I had to pick them and the tomatoes first. I also got a good crop of peppers. And since I was working in the garden, I planted a fall crop of carrots and parsnips and dead headed the dahlias.
The tomato paste came out of the canner well after dark and when I went to pull it out I scared away a possum. I imagine that's what is living under the bathroom tub.
I'm very tired and my FitBit says I've walked 16472 steps today- almost seven miles around in circles mostly in the house.
Unfortunately, I had one meal today and I'm too tired to do anything about eating tonight, even though I'm hungry. I might have a glass of soy milk to take the edge off.
