I came home Tuesday to find the heat pump misbehaving. 50 minutes of every hour the condenser is running at high volume.
Wednesday I woke up with an ugly crink in my neck which took my entire PT appointment to unravel to a reasonable level. Then I nearly hyperventilated trying to figure out the how to pay all the extra bills in June associated with all these happy family occurances- graduation, baby shower, birthday.
Last night I discovered the large freezer had been turned off and everything in it was defrosted, moldy and spoiled. There was also four inches of disgusting scuzzy soup in the bottom to clean out. I lost 15-20 lbs of beef, all the fruit from last year, 11 homemade meals, my pie crusts, and the packaged Asian food. I had hoped to off set some of the expenses by eating out of the freezer but that's a diminished possibility now.
Today I went to work and was immediately invited to a meeting in which I was informed that they would not be renewing my faculty contract past October 1. But I could continue to do my same job as a classified staff position for the same pay with no possibility of raises and fewer vacation hours after October 1. I, at least, have a job but the circumstances are crappy so I'm looking for a new job. I don't have to tell them yet what I'm going to do. I did take the rest of the day off, at their suggestion. I'd like nothing better than to schedule two weeks vacation and send my notice in on my first day off. It's not very mature or responsible but it would be very satisfying. After 15 years of service this is a dirty deed.

I'm going to hope this craptastic week is a springboard to the start of something much better. In the mean time, I'm taking myself out for sushi with the last of my lunch money for May.
