I Am A: Lawful Neutral Human Ranger (5th Level)

Ability Scores:

Strength-11

Dexterity-12

Constitution-11

Intelligence-14

Wisdom-17

Charisma-12

Alignment:
Lawful Neutral A lawful neutral character acts as law, tradition, or a personal code directs him. Order and organization are paramount to him. He may believe in personal order and live by a code or standard, or he may believe in order for all and favor a strong, organized government. Lawful neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you are reliable and honorable without being a zealot. However, lawful neutral can be a dangerous alignment when it seeks to eliminate all freedom, choice, and diversity in society.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Rangers are skilled stalkers and hunters who make their home in the woods. Their martial skill is nearly the equal of the fighter, but they lack the latter's dedication to the craft of fighting. Instead, the ranger focuses his skills and training on a specific enemy a type of creature he bears a vengeful grudge against and hunts above all others. Rangers often accept the role of protector, aiding those who live in or travel through the woods. His skills allow him to move quietly and stick to the shadows, especially in natural settings, and he also has special knowledge of certain types of creatures. Finally, an experienced ranger has such a tie to nature that he can actually draw on natural power to cast divine spells, much as a druid does, and like a druid he is often accompanied by animal companions. A ranger's Wisdom score should be high, as this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

I made a plain simple Persian coat out of a pretty linen. It went swiftly but when I was done I felt that it might be too tight across my hips and bust. The back fit great so I thought I'd add strips to the center front panels and cover it with a cloud collar and decorative strips. I had a beautiful silk metallic brocade that went beautifully with the linen- it was an obvious choice.

Unfortunately, nothing went well. The brocade is not centered on the selvages so when I tried to use the selvage edges for the strips down the front, the pattern wasn't the same width. There wasn't enough to get a second strip off the same edge. On top of that, my adventures in sewing included improper cutting technique that cut the selvage edge crosswise twice and managed to also cut the finished edge of the coat. The brocade is very difficult to work with and I'm afraid I've ruined $50 worth of material (and only two yards). This time I think my imagination exceeded my skill.

I give up. There will be no new clothes for Egils this year. I can't wear the undershirt without the appropriate coat.

It doesn't help that I'm exhausted after the prednisone kept me up until 4:45 this morning. I managed some fitful sleep between 5:00 and 8:30 but I have to go to bed now and hope sleep deprivation and codeine overwhelm the prednisone mania.

I'm very disappointed to have nothing to show for two days of sewing but I know when to quit. *sigh*
