Industrious....
Sep. 11th, 2012 11:05 pmTonight we had almost three five-gallon buckets of plums, 1.5 five-gallon buckets of elderberries, and a box of asian pears to process.
We put the elderberries in to the steamer then started on the Asian pears.

It's much easier using the apple "kerchunker"

It makes pretty pear stars

While this was happening, Marian was sitting on the floor in the bathroom sorting plums

Then we started pitting

In the end we had 3 one-gallon bags of Asian Pears,

thirteen one-gallon bags of plums

A pile made of pits (isn't that an interesting English conundrum?),

A rather messy stove,

Almost eight cups of elderberry juice to make more jelly,

And ten jelly jars of sugar free elderberry jelly
