A little traumatic this morning
May. 16th, 2012 12:00 pmOne of the neighborhood kitties apparently ran into a car this morning. When I went out she was alive but had an obvious head injury. Her canine tooth had impaled her tongue and she was bleeding from her eyes, mouth and nose. I couldn't leave her so I packed her up and took her to Dr. Conklin's house. I had to wake the dr. up but she looked at her gave her an injection of steroids to get the swelling in her brain down (she's walking in circles), an injection of antibiotics and some pain meds.
Other than the head trauma she seems to be in good health. I took her home and put her in the catery for now. I have more pain meds and some antibiotics if she'll allow it when she's feeling better
She purred through the exam, she didn't want to be more than a foot from me at the house. I moved her a couple of times and every time I'd step away she'd circle around to be closer to me.
That may change as her condition improves, of course, she is after all, feral.
I do not want or need another cat, particularly a feral one. I may have to get her spayed though before I release her back to the population. I think she may be the mother of at least 6 cats, if the horde gathered around to watch was any indicator.
