I have an alpaca fleece roving ....
Apr. 6th, 2012 01:56 pmActually, it belongs to a colleague at work. She was given the fleece for free and she took it in to be processed without ever inquiring how much it would cost. She has never learned to spin and finally has admitted that she isn't going to either. She'd like to get some of her money back for the processing. It's a luscious chocolate brown and very soft. It appears to have been carded, not combed so I see some vegetable matter in it and some felted nubs. There are supposed to be 100 ounces in the fleece.
It looks like full fleeces rovings are selling for $5 per ounce online but that seems a little unrealistic in these times. I think Shelley paid $250 for the processing. I don't think that she expects to get that much for the fleece but I'd like to see her get a fair share back. If you are interested, perhaps we can negotiate. Feel free to tell others that you think might be interested.
