Update....
Mar. 31st, 2012 10:17 amI should be doing a work out this morning but I've done three days in a row of Zumba and increased the amount of time I spent each day and I'm a little sore this morning. I might loosen up if I did some exercise though, so we'll see.
Last night I finally got to the place that I used to get to when I was fencing...warm, loose, and happy. I know this not only because I felt it but because, afterwords, I had to take a shower because I was freezing (sweat doing it's thing, you know). I haven't had to do that after exercise since I was fencing with Jay.
Zumba is good, even if I look like an idiot doing it.
( Funny picture that says it all about Zumba )
My week of vacation was kind of disappointing. I went shopping with Andrea, my mom, her mom and both our dads on Monday. The men were NOT part of the plan and they spent the day waiting like they thought we'd be done any minute now. Silly boys! An hour or two of shopping was not our plans, we had a marathon planned and we did NOT let them interfere. We went to the outlet mall in Woodburn.I spent more money on clothes that I didn't need but wanted. I put them on my cards and paid them off yesterday when I got paid but that was a bit painful. However, I did not spend as much as my cousin. We went into Eddie Bauer (a first for me. I did not realize they sold clothes I could wear) and Andrea kept finding things that she liked. Pretty soon I glance over and she is peering over the top of a pile of clothes in her lap.(she's still in her wheelchair). It was pretty funny but also fun. I'm not sure her bill was so fun. $573 in one store. But since she gets out one or two times a year to go shopping I guess it's not unreasonable either. Dressbarn and Lane Bryant sucked up my money. Plus I bought a salt rock lamp. They are supposed to help cleanse the environment of allergens and prevent allergy and asthma attacks. Besides they are pretty! (it looks like this one It has a dimmer switch so I can turn it down but leave it on at night. I love the warm light it creates even if it doesn't do anything else. We finally lost the guys when we finshed six hours of shopping and told them we were going to Joann's yet. They took the second vehicle and left.
At Joann's I picked up the yarn to make this scarf(Ravelry link) and this. As we were perusing the isles, Andrea says. "Oh, that's pretty, I like that. And points to a acrylic, wool, mohair laceweight yarn in purple and green. I smiled and agreed that it was pretty. We kept looking and soon she says "I really liked that purple and green yarn." A few minutes later I hear "I really need some fingerless mitts" Ok, I can take a hint! We laughed at her not so subtle hints and her mom picked up a skein of the yarn. So now I'm working on turning it into mitts The mohair content makes my nose and face itch so I feel a bit like a bunny when I'm working on it. (nose twitch twitch... rub paw over face a couple of times...twitch twitch) but they look very nice. Aunt Marilyn assures me that Andrea doesn't react to mohair. The first mitt is actually completed except for the thumb now.
Tuesday, Carrie and I got together for breakfast and a small shopping trip. We went to Jean Marie's in Springfield. It's a consignment shop with some higher end clothes at low end prices. I didn't find anything but it's a really small shop. She has some very vintage clothing but since she doesn't know how to care for them, she's done a lot of damage trying to clean them. (REALLY who sends a 1920's day dress through the washing machine?!!) After Jean Marie's we went to Lane Bryant. I know I'd already spent over $100 at the outlet store but I was looking for specific things and we had our RealWomen dollars to spend ($25 off every $50). Monday I bought one of every single pair of panties that they had in cotton in my size and the style I prefer. I've reached that weird point where the panties I had in one style don't fit well but I haven't actually changed sizes. This style still fits nicely but the regular store only usually carries about 5 different colors. So at the outlet mall I picked up probably two dozen brightly colored ones. But I also bought two light colored skirts and as summer is coming I know that lighter colors are in my future. Therefore some neutrals were in order and the outlet store didn't have those. There were a few other things and the total rang in at over $250 until the RealWomen dollars were applied, then it was half that. Still more than I'd intended but not more than I could afford.
After shopping we picked up Robert from work and then hung out for a while at their house until I needed to go to Marian's for our Tuesday night girls night. We are still painting tiles. I finished another one but didn't have my camera so hopefully Marian will get a picture before it's fired.
Wednesday I got up and started picking up the house in preparation for Ceridwen's visit. But then I looked outside...snow, lots of it. (4-6 inches that's lots for the valley). If you didn't see the pictures they are here. So I figured that the day's plans were cancelled. *sigh* I was really looking forward to it too. So instead I sat and knit by myself. I finished the mitts you saw with the scarf and I finished the scarf. I just need to get them mailed off to my aunt.
Thursday I was supposed to scrapbook with my Mom and Holly but it was more of the same. Snow day for Holly's kids and hard to travel to Springfield. So I sat and knit. I made the blue scarf and started the mitts for Andrea.
Friday the roads had finally cleared and Jean met me at 10:00 for our trip to the zoo. We should have left sooner because we ran out of time but hind sight is 20/20. We had a good day at the zoo although my snuffles from Wednesday had turned itno a full blown cold. It was sunny enough that I was able to leave my jacket in the car and wear just my skirt and sweater (with longjohns underneath). The animals were out and moving about but the enclosures were so small I felt kind of bad for the animals. I understand but I still feel bad--Especially for the bald eagles. Neither of the birds on display can actually fly so it's not the enclosure it's that they have lost something that is so vital to their nature. I really really wanted to play with the Lorekeets but by the time we got there the zoo had been closed for 30 minutes and that display was closed up. Bummer, I'll have to go again to see them. (they let you feed them and they come and land all over you.) We had a slow trip back, stopping in Salem at the Newport restaurant for dinner before we hit home. Jean came in for a few minutes to see some of my SCA stuff. She doesn't understand how someone can spend so much time and money on "Make believe." Oh well to each their own.
Saturday, my cold was not improved but I was going to Wildlife Safari, dang it! I picked up Robert and we headed down to make a reasonable day of it. It rained. It rained the entire day. Many of the animals sought the shelters. There were no baby animals yet although there are two cheetah babies being hand reared in the nursery. There were still a lot of animals to see. A quarter of the way through our first trip around my camera batteries died. Disappointing but not the end of the world. We stopped at the "Village" afterwords and got lunch, toured through the exhibits and bought more batteries. Our second trip through was better for the camera and provided just as many, although different, photo opportunities. When I first went through Wildlife Safari, the animals in the bear and cat enclosures were allowed free roam and you had to stay in your car with the windows rolled up. Apparently, probably due to human stupidity, this is no longer the case. Fences or cages seperate the people from the animals now. The cheetas we interesting to watch. Two males who live together (Andy and Frank) had been seperated overnight so that Frank could go to the breeding enclosure. When we went by the first time they were just letting Frank back into his normal enclosure. Andy was churping and trilling to him and trying to see him over the baracade. When he finally came in, though, the two brothers promptly ignored each other. I was expecting some display of affection but it didn't happen. That's brothers for you. ;>)
We ate way too much during the day but at 8:00 felt the need for Chinese food. We ate out and then Robert showed me Star Wars, the Old Republic, the game he and Carrie have been playing instead of WoW. It looked interesting but I wanted to play it before I purchased it.
Sunday I was too sick to go to church (It turns out that we were all sick, there were only three left of the 11 we meet with on Sunday morning). So I spent the morning trying to install SWTOR on my gaming computer. It was not a successful day. I had two calls to tech support before it would allow me to login. Then I spent 3 hours downloading the program. Finally, when I got to play (on a free 7 day trial), within 30 seconds of entering the game it crashed. After the 4th time I gave up. Obviously, there is a problem of compatibility between my computer and the game. We don't know what the issue is just yet but until we figure it out or figure out a work around I'm out of luck. It's a bummer becuase until today the software was $20 off but I don't want to buy it if it won't work. *sigh* I miss gaming but I don't game alone so, since neither Robert or Carrie are playing WoW I stopped paying for my subscription.
Ooh, this has gotten longer than I intended, sorry. I need to get started with my day. I hope to sew my skirt of the month today and I'm supposed to meet Scott and Jess in Corvallis for dinner at 6:00. I haven't seen them in years. However, I don't know the status of the water levels right now. The Mary's river was supposed to reach flood stage in Corvallis last night and it is between me and dinner. I'll check tripcheck closer to the time to leave. Ta ta for now!
