I finally had enough energy to join Trudi and Marian on Tuesday night. They had picked the kiwi off of Trudi's kiwi plants and so we spent the evening slicing grape/olive size kiwi (no fuzz) into halves for the dehydrator:

They were quite tasty but we mostly refrained from eating them...sort of.

After we finished with the kiwi we looked again at our soap. The Castille soap that's scented with Burgamot and Rose is fairly solid and we were able to take it out of the molds. It will age a little longer I think to be safe. The Sesame oil soap is still really soft...in fact Marian and I made butter cream out of some of it in the mixer. (Ok not one to eat, for sure!) Then we scooped it out into little mounds, maybe it will dry better that way than in the large brick we first created. In the mean time we got to experience the soap and it's really soap! It lathers and it makes your skin nice and soft.

Marian said she was going to take a bath with the mixer bowl...it had lots of soap left in it.

Next week we think we'll make fruit cake and play with cranberries. I have the dehydrator running with peaches, pears, apples and bananas in it. I also threw in a can of pineapple chunks. I don't expect to use the bananas in the fruit cake but they were a little over ripe and needed to be used. I also have some blueberries and Marian had some alcoholic cherries. The peaches and pears are ones I canned earlier in the year so they are spiced. I hope they will make good dried fruit. I also have some plums but I think we should probably minimize the usage of those or we'll have a rather "medicinal" fruit cake. I know that fruit cake can be really really bad but it can also be very good. I'm hoping that we come up with something yummy!

Do you like fruit cake?

What do you put in your fruit cake?
