Medical...cancer?
Dec. 15th, 2010 09:50 amMonday I thought perhaps I was developing another eye infection... runny, itchy eyes but not red. So I called to make an appointment with my PC. There were no open appointments on Tuesday but they fit me in at 6:10 Monday night with the LPN that I really like. She looked me over, we talked about several things. In the process of taking off my glasses, she noticed the little white mole on my nose. I think I've shown it to her before but this time she was worried that it might be a basal cell carcinoma. Therefore, she's referred me to a dermatologist to have it removed and evaluated. Now I just have to wait for the call, the appointment, the biopsy and the results. I am trying not to worry- if it's cancerous, it's not a fast growing type and rarely metastasizes. My paternal grandmother had several removed, as I recall.
I also came away from this appointment with antibiotic eye drops and antibiotics for another infection. The results are rather uncomfortable, even with probiotics. On a good note, the last test for the papilloma virus came back negative. I am thrilled to hear that. After a round of cryotherapy to remove precancerous lesions from my cervix when I was 21, I am hoping that the absence of the virus will mean I don't ever have to go through that excruciating therapy again.
So... I guess, Merry Christmas?
