I just bought my first real piece of furniture- a leather recliner loveseat. It looks a little like this. I figure it will take me three years to pay off but Dad insisted that I pay him back instead of financing like I had signed on for. I'll go back tomorrow and pay off the financed amount. They will deliver it on Tuesday. Dad and I will be taking my current loveseat to the dump tomorrow- it's at least third hand and it's begining to show/smell it. I'll be sitting in an empty living room for a couple of days.
I'm sooooo excited to have something so nice and new!

I started the day today with an 8:00 am dental appointment. Everything looked good. I was even able to help my former classmate who is my dental hygienist with a educational challenge with one of her children.

After my appointment I dropped by the eye doctor's office and got on their call list in case they had a cancellation. Then I went to market of choice to turn in my bottles, Walmart to pick up some canisters for my bulk food, and then Lazyboy to begin my hunt for my new loveseat. As I was entering Lazyboy, the Rainbow optics called and offered me a 2:00 appointment.

I ran by a couple of other furniture stores before stopping at mom and dad's for some home canned food for the pantry. Then I headed back to Junction City for a 12:20 doctor's appointment to follow up on my labs. The doctor was in complete agreement with me that it was mostly genetic and gave me 60 days worth of Simvastatin to try. I need to have my liver enzymes tested in 30 days. I'd taken in my diet and menus, prepared to battle but he totally agreed. I worried myself sick for nothing!

After my doctor's appointment I headed back into Eugene to the Shade shop to see if I could FINALLY get a new glass for my Torchierre lamp. I broke the glass not last Christmas, but the Christmas before when I knocked the lamp over with the Christmas tree. I hadn't found anything in the right size locally but I hadn't been to the shade shop yet. I walked into this little tiny shop, picked up a glass almost identical to the original and walked out in 10 minutes time. Too bad it took me a year to get in there. The shade isn't quite the same color or pattern but it's exactly the same shape and size. I'm pleased. If I really don't like that the two lamps don't match I can go get another shade for the other lamp and they will match again. For now I'm just happy to have light in the living room again.

From the Shade shop I headed directly to Rainbow optics for my appointment there. Everything seemed fine until the doctor took a second look at my right eye and looked for a really, really long time. Apparently I had a floater that made her think it was a piece of retina, so she started looking for a hole. She found a scar which she thinks is covering the original hole. She isn't too worried about it but I'm to have a recheck in 6 months. She says that sometimes these little holes occur spontaneously but she wants to be sure there isn't something tugging at the retina that could cause it to detach. So only a little disturbing- it probably doesn't mean anything. My prescription hasn't changed enough to be noticeable but I got a new pair of glasses with my insurance coverage so I will have a pair at work and a pair at home. The insurance covers $200 and I bought a $200 pair of glasses. It worked great but I had to be very selective in the frames I chose, to stay in that range. I like them even though they aren't really expensive.

I finished the shopping day with several visits to furniture stores. I could have gone for a less expensive loveseat by not getting the recliner but I figured it was worth the investment. There was another reclining loveseat at the furniture warehouse that was less expensive but it didn't fit my body quite as well as the one I finally chose.

The capping climax to the day was a modified chicken fried steak and potato dinner with mom and dad with semi-diet chocolate cream pie for dessert. I ate entirely too much but it tasted SOOOOO good and I hadn't eaten since 10:00.

Tomorrow, I need to run back to Broyhill to pay off the balance. Then I need to go to the pet store and get a new kitty tree so I can dispose of the horrendously hideous monstrosity that is currently residing in my livingroom. Then, when I come back, I have to have dad come out to take out the old loveseat and run it to the dump. I'd hoped to have lunch with Robert but I'm not sure how that will work out. Then it's dinner with Carrie.
