October?!

Where did August and September go? Oh how time flies.

October is about a month later than I should start the holiday knitting. This year I'm trying to be realistic and choose small projects but still they add up and take time. I'm still working on Carrie's birthday present, although I'm hoping to finish it up this weekend. I'll have to post pictures later since I don't have my knitting with me today.

I still have a pretty large list of people and not so many ideas. I've been hunting for patterns but you kind of have to have an idea first.

So here is my list with items omitted for those people who actually read this thing:

Carrie: She reads this but I do have an idea for her.
Robert: He reads this but I have no clue whatsoever.
Jay: No idea
Candy: She reads this, not absolutely sure but probably something similar to my idea for Carrie.
Lukas: As much as I'd like to knit the cute hoodie I have a pattern for, I don't think that's reasonable given my time frame. So...Candy can I get wrist and hand measurements for your baby boy instead? I was thinking maybe these:

Dad: Dad's been complaining that we threw all his vests away but knitting him a vest is also not a reasonable thing in my time frame so maybe a pair of socks? The SKA challenge this month is man socks...I'm thinking about the Not Cable socks but modified so as to comfortably fit his diabetic feet.

Mom: Maybe socks also. Another SKA challenge is for the designer of the "Bloomin'" socks that I've been coveting but not quite brave enough to start (it's all the purling!)

Brother: Well he likes his alpaca socks, maybe I should make him another pair in another color. I might have blue in my stash. But he also said the hat I made last year is too small without the earflaps. Maybe he needs a different hat. He also has a birthday in December.
SIL: Accidental Girly Mitts But I have to find just the right yarn because she's not really very girly.

Nephew: Still thinking on it. No ideas yet
Niece: The hat I made for her two years ago got shrunk in the laundry so she needs a new hat but I've also been smitten by the Gerbera Mittens. She's learning to knit and I'm sending her a birthday package with everything she needs to make a hat and scarf herself. I don't think she'll be ready to tackle these.

Mom's birthday: I don't know; I wonder if she'd use fingerless mitts
Brother's birthday: See above. Sounds like I have two potential projects already

I'm not sure my sister, BIL or grandfather are knit worthy (will take care of or appreciate handknits) Grandpa's been hinting he'd like socks but the last things I knit for him he threw away and heavily criticized. I don't really like to waste my time or feel that kind of hurt. My sister might be working her way onto the knit worthy list. She was really admiring the shawls I knit when she was here in August but she did shrink Adriel's hat...I'll have to think on it.

This is a pretty large list already. I'd best get cracking!
