Robert and Carrie created a monster. I've been quite happily surfing ebay all week now. I'm not willing to spend too much but I've gotten some great deals and I'm hoping the $.98 cone of cashmere comes through for me (I've noticed that yarnies are vultures sweeping in at the last moment to steal a bid).

Carrie has been dress shopping online and gotten a couple of lovely dresses and some interesting jewelry. But what got me started was Robert purchasing this for me:

I know it just looks like a pretty watch but it's also an Italian charm bracelet. I don't normally wear jewelry for religious reasons, but I love pretty things. This allows me to have pretty things on a watch band instead of wearing a separate piece of jewelry. I know Robert has a couple of charms in mind or purchased to go on the band but I have picked up the following as well: Read more... )
I still need to find charms for my mother, sister and the niece and nephew. I also want one that says Family and, oh, there are many others that I like. Robert has asked that I use the charms only to represent something special, however. I still think I'm going to have to get a mega charm to link two bracelets together (Or three maybe) so that I have enough room for all the special charms. I told Candy I needed one that said "Godmomma" and Jay said he'd look for a charm to represent him on his tour. I'm sure I'll have a hello Kitty for Carrie at some point. I'm having a lot of fun and I picked up all the charms on Ebay for less than $25 including shipping and handling. I'm done shopping for charms now, until I get everything in one place. ;>) And I'm done doing any more bidding until I get paid again.

ETA- These are 9mm charms so the pictures are greatly enlarged to see details.

No matter what you thought of him personally, he was a pop icon. It's a shame for anyone to die at age 50 when life seems to be barely half over.

I won the first cashmere cone. As predicted, someone tried to scoop it from me in the last 24 minutes. I think that's impossibly rude. Anonymity at it's best I suppose. This is commercial lace weight (2/14) cashmere from Colourmart, so it's slightly oiled and should be washed before using. Instructions for washing seem fairly easy and everyone agrees it blooms beautifully.

There are 214 g on this cone Current cones from Colourmart are weighting 150 g and cost $36. I paid $2.76 for my cone plus about $5 shipping. SCORE!

I'm currently bidding on 21,000 yards of cream Italian Merino lace weight and 3550 yards of scarlet Cashmere/merino lace weight. There are several days to go on those.

I was outbid on the Italian Wool. I don't know what they put as their max but it's way higher than mine. *pout*
