Rapier

I picked up my rapier to fight today for the first time in almost 2 years. There were three of us fighting and I got a good work out. My body is telling me allllll about it though. My shoulders don't want to raise above parallel, if that. My legs hurt; my back hurts. I don't know that all of it can be blamed on rapier since my parents gave me a good work out fetching and carrying today too. Still I had a lot of fun. I'm teaching a fundamentals class on Saturday from 10-11 with fighting for authorized or advanced from 11-12 under the Washington/Jefferson street bridge. I had four "students" last week and hopefully again next week. With Ursalmas this weekend I didn't expect most of them anyway. I've had 8 people ask me about a fundamentals class but only four have actually shown up. Maybe as the word gets out we'll get more. I'd love to see a larger contingent here. I was hesitant to teach on Saturday, although it was the only day I was available, because it means that I have to set an alarm 7 days a week. But we'll see how it goes. I did enjoy fighting again. I have missed it, I've just been busy. I've almost gotten over my snit about how rapier is treated here and the lack of support from Kingdom...almost. I don't imagine I'll get over it completely but I've decided not to care. I enjoy fighting and that's what I'll do. If I never fight at another event, I don't care. I want to fight with Jay and those others who will give me a good, or in some cases, unusual fight. Ambrose has been fighting with the rapier in a two handed grip using Fiore techniques. It results in a few percussive hits but an interesting fight. I had to pull back a couple of buckler punches myself while fighting him so I can't complain too much. He's usually pretty good at pulling the force back. It's also an interesting study on cut vs thrust. Cuts take more time...but can be very effective. Like I said, interesting.
Anyway, I'm taking my sore body to bed very shortly. Good night all!
