Did you ever notice...
Dec. 9th, 2008 09:56 pmHow hard it is to take a good picture of Christmas decorations? I was going to get my tree tonight but I just didn't have the energy, nor did I know how to secure it in my vehicle. So I came home and decorated the garland instead and added some little things to my winter village. I picked up the school house to go with my post office, train station, church and Victorian house but the spire is broken so I need to take it back. Maybe I'll pick up some of that fake snow when I make the exchange. The scene is pretty but doesn't photograph worth a hoot. Still, I'm pleased; my house is looking festive. I still have some cleaning to do but I think I'll work on that on Saturday and get my tree then too. It will be perfect. I'm soooo excited!
On another note, and still about Christmas... I am getting a tree and greenery to celebrate the harvest, winter, coming spring, goodwill, generosity, and all that is good (Santa too). My tree and the greenery are a Norwegian tradition pre-dating the Catholic celebration. I am not celebrating Christmas as the birth of Jesus. That doesn't mean I'm not Christian. I don't believe that celebrating once a year is profitable to our spirit but, that such a gift should be celebrated every day of our lives and in everything we do. My family has never celebrated Christmas as a religious holiday, but we do enjoy getting together with family and an excuse to give gifts and eat well.
