This last weekend was Adiantum's late summer event; the name of which I've never quite gotten right...A day of champion's and symposia, I think. It was my first event since retiring as Seneschal and I had great fun. I wore my Flemish and worked in the kitchen all day. Even though all the pieces weren't quite what I wanted them to be, I went ahead and entered the dress into the A & S competition solely for feedback. For the most part, they told me what I already knew but that's good- it means I'm aware of the faults. I received the best complement though...Even though there were some technical faults I "looked like you stepped out of a painting". Perfect! That's exactly what I was hoping for. I had a moment in the kitchen when I was kneading bread when I though, "I wish this kitchen were a bit more period, this would make a great photo opportunity." I also was told I found a good balance between flattering and practical. ;>D

The things I need to work on are thus: I need to rework the black partlet, it doesn't fit me right, which isn't surprising since it wasn't made for me originally. I need to hand sew a new chemise and create a white partlet. Those two won't be worn at the same time because of the styles but they will give me more options on how I wear it. I need to put together full documentation and a dress diary. I have pictures, I think, but since I didn't decide until the last moment to enter the dress I didn't have them with me.

Sock notes

So after three trips to the frog pond with the 9-5 sock, I decided to set it down. The pattern is lovely and quite easy but I'm having a terrible time with the sizing. The first two times it was way to big. Then I over-did the down sizing and it was too small. *sigh* Time to work on something else for a while
