Tired Eyes

I was noticing yesterday as I was driving home that the signs are rather blurry. I experimented a bit, if I close my right eye, no matter how close I am to the sign it remains blurry. Close my left eye and it is blurry but clarifies at a closer distance. Hmmm. Having this thought in mind today, I noticed that my computer screen is blurry. If I know what things say, I don't even think about it. But if I don't, well then I'm leaning closer to my monitor to read and still it's not clear- letters have a fuzzy outline. Moving my monitor closer helped a bit. I've been rubbing my eyes a lot and I notice that they ache. Perhaps that's why my head hurts so often.

So, yes I know I need to see the opthamologist. It's been about 3 years. Last time he told me I had 20/20 vision but an astigmatism which meant that even at 20/20 my vision was not perfect. I don't want glasses...I have one ear that is significantly higher than the other, which you don't notice until you wear glasses. At that point, glasses dig into my ears. I know, I wore glasses from 3rd grade until high school and contacts from then until 1995. In 1995, the dr. decided my eyes were normal and I didn't need corrective lenses. YEAY. Not only may that have changed but so have contacts. They don't write prescription for hard contacts and the soft contacts for astigmatism are weighted. This sounds strange but makes sense when you think about it. However, they have to fit said contacts multiple times to get them right, ordering new contacts each time. Not only would I have to pay for the contacts each time, but I'd also have to pay for every exam and visit to the doctor's office. My current budget doesn't allow for that sort of expense.

The second problem I have is that I have to take time off to go to the doctor's- probably nearly half a day since I have an hour commute each direction to and from the doctor's office. So, I'm going to see what I can do, but I'm really hoping it's just eye strain and will go away.
