What a day and am I glad to be home.
The morning started with a message from one of our profs telling us he'd had a heart attack and was in the hospital. By mid-morning he was in surgery undergoing a quadruple by-pass. Of course, he's a fairly famous poet and every one is concerned and wanting information. So much so, that the hospital asked that we tell people not to call. All calls are being routed through our office. I was one of the intermediaries between the person at the hospital and everyone else that wanted info. Add to that when he went into surgery they didn't have time to notify his family and our contact at the hospital wanted to know if we had emergency contact numbers. We don't, but I spent the greater part of an hour frantically looking for something.
Then this afternoon the seneschal tells me that he has to step down. Which leaves me, as deputy, holding the bag. It's not that bad, I had just hoped it wouldn't come to this. I have to find a deputy immediately so that someone is ready if I find a new job out of state.
I'm one stressed out chica today. So after work I ran to the CV good will to see if they had any yarn. They had thread which I could use but don't need so I left it on the shelf. I ran across to JoAnne fabrics then and noticed that they had a whole bolt of the fabric mom sent to Boise for. I'm not sure I want to tell her. ;>) I noticed they had yarn on sale and replaced what I had but then mom offered to buy me yarn on Saturday and I don't think I'll turn that down either The poncho/shawl I was crocheting for grandma turned out to have too small a neck hole. The pattern is very fast though. I think if I can adjust it well I will make some for other people- if I have the yarn.
When I got home I was greeted by the little black rocket who insists that I must feed him, even though he lives upstairs. I'm a softie and I know he gets good nutrition when I feed him. Besides he's really quite a cute little kitten.
One step inside the door and I found the mouse trap that was under the sink. Hmm. Ewwww, a mouse head, sans body. I guess the kitties had fun with that one. Yuck. I just hope they ate it and didn't leave it for me to find somewhere in the house. Ick, ick, ick! Please can, my night get better?
