Last minute plans
Aug. 15th, 2006 07:36 amToday I have taken the day off so I can go to the Newport aquarium and beach with my niece and nephew (the rest of the family too). It should be fun.
Yesterday I went to Mom and Dad's for dinner, played with the kids, and crocheted hair scrunchies. I tried to teach my niece how to do it but she doesn't seem to have the dexterity for it yet (she's 7). My sister went out shopping with a friend and hadn't returned when I left at 11. It was a bit inconsiderate of her, I was worried by the time I went home- was she lost or in an accident? But she was just having a good time. She returned about 11:45. Of course, up yet. I predicted it would be 10 before they got here. My sister is terrible about meandering hither and yon and getting no where on time. It's frustrating to me because I really MUST be on time or early.
One of the things I did while I was at mom and dad's was to take the kids to the fabric and dollar stores. I let A. pick out yarn for her scrunchies and I bought Army men for J. I felt kind of bad because J thought the yarn was really interesting but I didn't have anything quick that I could crochet for him. I think he was happy with his army men. They were both very good. I told them I had two rules. No leaning on anything and no touching without permission. They only forgot once (a piece). J. is a great leaner. He will lean with all of his weight on anything. A. is into everything- touching, picking up and discarding everything anywhere she pleases. Of course, I let them touch the yarn so they could help me pick the ones to get.
Anyway, I guess I should finish getting ready, in case I'm really wrong about the time it will take my family to get here. (riiiiiiiight!)
