Well, I figured it was time to check in on where I'm at on my goals for the year.  I've discovered some of my goals may be counter to each other so adjustments may be needed.  I find myself weary and depressed right now, probably mostly because we are still seeing only gray days.  I hope I'll be encouraged by this check in, or at least motivated. My Stampin' Up! stuff has required most of my attention in the last three months so I'm not getting as much time to do other things as I had hoped.  Work is currently in a holding pattern but I have training in San Francisco at the end of the month so things may pick up after that.  I have to get my Salesforce administrator certification before I can move into the new position.  I hadn't counted on this which will also take some time.  I desperately want some time to do some of the other things I love like sewing and knitting.  I am also feeling the need to get out into nature to de-stress (even the garden might help). I've also agreed to be head of retinue for the incoming Prince and Princess of the Summits and to help with their garb wrangling.  This is also going to take a lot of time- about 2 weekends a month for the next 9 months.  It should be fun but it will be busy.

Mental Health and Well-being
  • Be up front and honest with my family instead of avoiding having hard conversations. (I started this already when I told my mom I didn't want to go to Hawaii if I was going to be under Dad's thumb and not an independent person.  She's trying to arrange a family vacation, which, knowing my family, probably won't happen because mom and I are the only planners.  However, I told her it was difficult for me to be pleasant and not "ruin" other people's vacations when I had no say in my own participation.  I am 42 years old but my dad insists upon treating me like I'm 16 when we get together as a family.)- I'm still working on this.  I agreed to go to Hawaii after having a frank discussion with both of my parents and I'm hoping it will be a good trip since it's likely to be my only opportunity.
  • Continue daily journalling for my personal use- Still going strong on this, although some nights I've deferred my writing until the next morning.
  • Figure out Christmas presents early in the year so I can work on them slowly and not be cramming everything into the last 2-3 months making myself miserable.  Ooh, this one is still problematic. After the chaotic and drawn out Christmas knitting for this year, I've had no interest in making anything for anyone. In fact I really haven't done any knitting or sewing at all.
  • Continue participating in the University Chorale- Yep, still happening
  • Read!  My goal is at least 100 books.  I don't really care if  they are just fun and fluffy. I'm at 48 books, well ahead of schedule but enjoying it immensely.
  • Reduce screen time at home.  Perhaps audio books will help with this.I think this has been somewhat successful.  It still seems like I'm on my iPad or iPhone a lot but I've not been watching as much Netflix
  • Learn a couple of new skills.  I have two knitting skills in mine, Entrelac and Brioche knitting.  But I'd like at least one to be non-knitting related.- Not yet, still trying to accomplish ANY knitting, I'm told that Brioche knitting is another form of double knitting so it shouldn't be too hard to pick up after the long haul on Candy's scarf.
  • Attend at least two cultural events (preferably with Jana but not exclusively)- Jana and I went to see the Snow Queen Ballet at the Hult Center last Saturday.  It was lovely.

Physical Health and Well-being
  • Continue to take my water aerobics class- Still going but work has interfered more than I would like
  • Lose weight.  I'd like to get below 200 lbs by the first of next year.  That's about 36 lbs.  Normally, I wouldn't obsess about this but my surgery revealed that I have a fatty liver and the ONLY way to treat that is to lose weight. I think this is a reasonable goal.  If I could do that, I'd only have 25 lbs to go to get to my personal goal weight (perhaps not the doctors). Slowly, oh so slowly! I've taken off 6.7 lbs since Jan 18 and I think there was a pound or two before that but it's very slow going.  I know it's better that way but it's hard to see results.  However, I am down two dress sizes so I know the work is having some results.
  • In that vein, continue tracking food intake and activity on my Fitbit Yep
  • Once the surgery side effects have stabilized, see a nutritionist to discuss a balanced diet with my severely limited options- I think this should happen no later than March. I saw a nutritionist but we didn't accomplish anything.  She has not scheduled another appointment (Her schedule is the limiting one)
  • Get back to hiking- 3-5 hikes this year would be lovely.  This is a little weather dependent and so the last goal I had of 9 was not particularly feasible. It's still too wet for this but hopefully soon
  • Exercise 3-5 days a week.  Water aerobics will take care of this if I go faithfully but if not, I need to get out and walk to replace the missed days Not so good at this so far.  Hopefully, this term will be better.
Craft goals
  • Complete the Christmas knitting.  I finished Mom's socks over the weekend but I still need to get Candy's Star Wars scarf completed- it's about half done at this point. This is all done, Done, DONE!  However, the scarf is still sitting in my house waiting for delivery. It turned out great though!
  • Learn Entrelac and Brioche knitting (as per above) See above
  • Complete 3-5 shawls. I have at least seven shawls in my queue that I already have yarn for and lots of other yarn besides No knitting has happened on any front
  • Complete Fiori di Sole.  It can count as one of the seven I've half heartedly looked for the pattern and thought about it.
  • Complete the Poet's pullover.  I have the yarn and it's supposed to be an easy sweater. Still thinking
  • Sew one thing a month using already acquired fabric. I have a ton of fabric matched with patterns already. No sewing has happened although there has been an abundance of fabric acquisition.  I have cut out a coat and bliaut but only basted the coat together and nothing has happened to the bliaut.
  • Sew two bliauts (Linen and wool).  These can count as part of my one a month but I may have to buy linen for one.I have two bliauts cut out.  One cut to my pattern and one that was gifted to me after being cut out for someone else.  It requires adjustments but I think I have just enough pieces to get what I need out of it.
  •  Embellish the green tunic completely.  I have a good idea of what this should look like in my head, which makes it easier than any of the other embellishment. Work on embellishing other SCA gear. Ha!

Financial goals
  • Become a Stampin' Up demonstrator and meet the quarterly goals- preferably without buying all the product for myself. (I have signed up and opened my website but now I have to meet the goals)- This has consumed all of my time.  I have met my goals for the last quarter times about 10 but most of it was my purchases. I've been promoted once and am close to my second one but I'm sure I can't keep spending all this money!  I have one regular customer and a couple of occasional customers.  My last workshop was a bit of a bust (only one order after the fact) but I'll keep trying.
  • Put $1000 in the savings account. sigh
  • Use my credit card only for my business expenses Well I'm trying but that's actually been quite a lot and I have a couple of trips where it's going to be my back up plan
  • Pay down the balance on the card using my tax return. I did put $1000 of my tax return on my card but the return was not as large as I could have hoped and I had borrowed against it a bit.
  • Try making home cleaning/personal products.  I have recipes for laundry detergent, shampoo, conditioner, and multipurpose cleaners.  It's possible some would be cheaper to make than buy and better for me or the environment.  I should also make some wool dryer balls- I suppose this is both a craft and a financial goal.  I have made my laundry detergent and it works rather well, I think.  I need to work on the other ideas yet
  • I need to start thinking and planning for buying a new car  This just seems farther and farther away.

Well, I appear to be making progress in some areas and not so much in others.  I need to work on a little balance to get things done that are nurturing to me and not making more stressed.  I had hoped to spend this next Saturday sewing but I have a lot of birthday cards to get made and I need to work on my stamp of the month offerings for next month.  I have to figure this out though, I need more balance.
